Yaskawa at Schweißen & Schneiden 2023
Delivery performance and energy efficiency for robot welding
When Yaskawa exhibits the complete range of robot-based welding again this year at Schweißen & Schneiden (Hall 5, Stand 5A27) a special focus is to be placed on turnkey systems from its own European system construction. A further technical highlight will be its current solution for regenerative robot braking energy.
An “eye-catcher” at the stand will be a Motoman GP180 handling robot that has a monitor on its flange that shows in real time how much energy it is currently saving in operation. This is made possible by a unique technical solution for feeding robot braking energy back into the power grid – as standard equipment and without additional hardware. All larger Motoman robots of the series with a payload upwards of 35 kg and the latest YRC1000 robot controller are able to convert kinetic energy from downward and sideways movements directly into 400 V alternating current at 50 Hz and feed it back into the grid. Depending on the movement pattern, the energy requirements of the robot are thus significantly reduced.
On the way to European Number 1 in system construction
The Motoman GP180 is mounted on a Type TSL-2000SY robot track. This, together with a welding cell with four robots, is representative of the welding systems of all sizes that Yaskawa has been planning and building in Allershausen near Munich for almost four decades. This location is currently being expanded by another hall with about 10,000 square metres of useable space.
Yaskawa thus continues to pursue an ambitious strategy in this field. As stand manager Wolfgang Haag, Senior Key Account Manager EMEA in the Robotics Division of Yaskawa Europe, explains in advance of the fair: “Our goal is European market leadership in system construction by 2025.”
At the same time, Yaskawa will focus even more on Europe as a production site. One result of this commitment is the industry-wide unprecedented delivery performance that the robot and welding equipment manufacturer can offer in the EMEA market.
