Yaskawa at SPS 2024: “Curtain up” for the automation of the future!

At SPS 2024, Yaskawa presented itself as a solution provider and simultaneously launched the next evolution of the high-speed Sigma servo systems and the “iCube Control” automation platform. With these and new application-specific frequency converters and integrated control solutions, Yaskawa showed how machine builders can further reduce their time to market in economically challenging times.

One highlight at the Yaskawa stand was the servo drive series Sigma-X. This further development of the Sigma portfolio once again offers the highest motion performance while at the same time further simplifying handling. The new version of the servo system provides a lot of machine-relevant data – such as power reserves, temperature values and measured values for the moving load. These and numerous other innovations help to keep the user informed about important key figures at all times, thus increasing machine availability.

Yaskawa's iCube Control automation platform was also officially launched at the trade fair: the iC9226 series, the first Linux-based controllers from the iCube control portfolio, is now available, namely the safety version and the EtherCAT version. The new development is that EtherCAT can now be used to control not only servo drives and frequency inverters, but also delta and Scara robots, Yaskawa's own Motoman robots, customer-specific kinematics and other third-party devices.

Of course, the i³ Mechatronics concept for comprehensive automation, drive, control and robotics solutions was also a topic at the booth – in the form of a spectacular live cell with integrated trade show innovations iCube Control, Sigma-X, HMI Designer, as well as Scara and Delta robots in interaction. And last but not least, visitors were able to experience a preview of the new frequency inverters in the FP605 / HV600 model series, which have been specially designed for use in pumps and fans.
